Common
Questions
- Question:
Why would you like to see the doctor?
- Answer:
Try to explain as honestly as possible. The easiest answer is to
say that you have a 'sexual health concern'.
- Question:
Are you sexually active?
- Answer:
Tell them whether or not you have had sex with vaginal penetration.
Then tell them what types of sex acts you usually do (i.e., anal
sex, oral sex, etc.)
- Questions:
How many partners have you had? How often do you use protection? Are
these partners male, female or both?
- Answer:
If you feel that the doctor is judging you based on your answers,
then look for a different doctor. There are doctors out there who
are non-judgmental and youth-positive. If you haven't found one,
keep looking.
- Question:
When was your last period?
- Answer:
It's a good idea to keep track of your periods, such as when they
start, how long they last, and how heavy they are. Have this information
on hand in case the doctor needs it. If you aren't exactly sure,
tell that to the doctor as well
