When and Why

You should get a genital and pelvic exam

  • each year once you are participating in sex acts that involve genital contact -- especially if you are having vaginal, anal or oral sex
  • if you notice any changes in your genitals or anus that you cannot explain
  • if you suspect an infection
  • when you are starting or have just ended a relationship that involved sexual activity

You can also visit a clinic just to talk about puberty, loosing your virginity, contraception, and more.
