Meeting the doctor: If you are uncomfortable having an examination the first time you meet a doctor, make an appointment to first discuss your questions and concerns.

What’s normal and what’s not: Most male doctors will now ask a female nurse toenter the room when they examine a female client’s genitals. If you feel more comfortable with someone else in the room during your examination, you can tell this the doctor.
