How It Feels

Physically

Let's talk about penetration - all types of penetration.

  • If you're the person getting something inside of you, you will feel pressure and stretching.
  • If you're really nervous, your muscles will be tight. This could make it uncomfortable.
  • If you're worried or distracted, your mind may block-out some of the pleasurable feelings.
  • If you're excited and turned-on, there could be no limit to your pleasure and you may have an orgasm.
  • In vaginal penetration, the female's hymen may need to be broken - this could be uncomfortable for the female and challenging for the person penetrating. It may also cause a little bleeding.

If it doesn't feel good once you've started, stop or take a break. There is nothing wrong with changing your mind part way through.

  • Set the mood. Get relaxed and turned-on.
  • Take it slow.
  • Use lots of lube.
  • Don't expect an orgasm the first time.
  • Communicate with your partner about how it feels.
  • Have fun.
